Stonegate “North” and Stonegate “South”: A major Westchester developer put in developments in a number of communities and put Stonegate Road in each of them, so they became known as Stonegate Areas.
In Ossining there were three sections of what had been farm land developed with Stonegate homes, generally on a 1/3 to 1/2 acre lot. They are in 2 separate areas we’ve designated in the map below.
The two predominant styles of home in Stonegate are:
- Raised Ranch with 3 Brs and 1 ½ Bths and a large family room
- Colonial style with 4 Brs and 1 ½ or 2 Bths
- Both styles have 2-car garages, steel center beams and poured concrete foundations, all unusual features for the 1960s.
As with many of the Ossining developments, the houses set so well on their lots that each one is a photo op. Each section of Stonegate is convenient to excellent parks, although with the pools, big yards and playsets, the neighborhoods themselves have a lot to offer!
